Hello all,
Is there a way to determine the priority of wireless networks? I mean, the KDE networkmanager applet works fine, but it often connects to the WRONG wireless network by default when multiple usable networks are available. (For example: at work we have a network A that allows printing, but which is not available throughout the building; and a network B that works everywhere, but that does not allow printing. Obviously I want to connect to B only if A is not available, but the networkmanager just seems to prefer B.) Any idea how to deal with that? Any workaround? Would it be a good feature, if it does not exist yet? |

from Google'ing
per http://superuser.com/questions/331720/h ... 698#333698
you could also look at WiFi Radar as it states:

I would like to define preferences to different Wifi networks / SSIDs to which I connect via the same network interface (wlan0). In this case, I think metrics won't help me much. Right?
I also tried WifiRadar but it didn't seem such a comfortable solution. |

sorry but way out of my depth here, Google'ing seems to infer WiFi Radar is a solution to this problem and I don't know enough about routes and metrics to even venture a comment

Unfortunately this is not possible, because NetworkManager doesn't support anything like this. A solution could be to disable autoconnecting for all wireless networks and write a simple script which will activate your prefered connection.

Well if Windows network manager is good enough to do it, then maybe it is a good idea as a new feature in KDE's one too.

This is not about KDE NM applet, but about NetworkManager which we use. We would need NetworkManager's support to be able to add such a feature.

This feature has been implemented in NetworkManager on 2014-10-12. Should now be possible to support it in Plasma-NM. I've filled a bug report about this: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=342691

Already implemented in plasma-nm 5.2.x, but you also need to compile it against NetworkManager 1.0.x.
