As it was in old Microsoft Windows OS.
Any file manager of linux doesn't support it

I think Gnome's Nautilus does this (or did in an earlier version), not something I often see requested

Why you want it? Whenever I saw this in Windows I immediately changed the settings for that window and organized the icons pretty neat next to each other in alphabetical order. Also one of those things I hated about Windows, messy way of showing things.
