Hello,
'Network Management' widget in KDE 4.14.3 on openSuse 13.2 --- next to useless.

on KDE 4.11.x on opensuse 12.3, I could create several 'connections' for the same AP and connect to them at will.
in KDE 4.14.3, I can 'edit' or create these 'connections' , but NM does NOT allow, offer a means to use or connect using them.
NM 0.9 in KDE 4.14.3 ONLY allows connection to 'AP's' (wireless routers for most).
So, NM 0.9.x in KDE 4.14.3 is Useless!

exp. an AP (wireless router or whatever you call yours) is an Access Point, NOT a 'network' and it acts as a 'pass through' (point of access) and may have many networks connected to it (behind it, connected to it, available through it, via it, etc).

I want to create a connection to an 'AP' with DHCP, one with an static IP of a 'local area network' of x.x.2.x and one with an IP that matches the AP's ip network of x.x.1.x for management of the AP . All these networks are connected and accessible via the AP, but with this implementation of Gnome's Network Manager (of which i don't understand KDE using), there is NO way to access and connect to the 'connections' created in 'Connection Editor'. ONLY AP's are ever listed in the NM 'Available Connections' drop down.

Why? How do I access these connections.
Even setting the connection created in editor to Connect Automatically, it Does Not.

Reed.

Oh, and what's up with the labeling scheme of Network Adapters in this latest version of KDE/openSuse???
Why would anyone change eth0 and wlan0 to the **** names they now have. enp9s0 and wlp12s0 respectively..
When controlling at a command line, these 'names' are, well , Moronic! It makes NO sense why this and a 100 other things have been changed. Over the last 3 years, it seems KDE, opensuse and Firefox have nothing to do, so the change things that did Not 'need' changing, just to have something to do... Not funny, but Sad...

re lableing schemes, you shouldn't blame this on KDE, you should read the following http://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Softwar ... faceNames/

remember the netork manager applet is a gui front end to networkmanager
