FTP grief

Tue Mar 24, 2015 9:15 am
Hello,

I had a small task to do using FTP today (transferring a small folder to my web host and editing a single text file), and using KDE, this was not possible.
First I tried to add my ftp host to dolphin as a network folder. This failed miserably, it was never able to finish this process.
Then I logged in using konqueror, going to ftp://me:pass@myhost.com and browsing to my folder. That is possible, and I was able to drag/drop the filder to be moved from a dolphin window.
Opening any file from the konqueror window in kwrite was impossible. I just got an empty file.
Cli ftp to the rescue, that works.

During my failed attempts to use kde apps for this, I also had problems pasting the password into the various places - dolphin dialogs and konqueror addressbar. After playing with copy/paste in kwrite I got it to paste, but it is rather inconvenient, and the problem was also appearent after a reboot.

I'm using the latest plasma/kf 5 desktop, and latest kde applications on archlinux.
