Hello,
Originally Ctrl+U in Konqueror did clear text input fields, it did work both on the URL bar as well as in <INPUT> fields in web pages. Since a while, Konqueror has changed to the Firefox behaviour: Ctrl+U now displays the HTML source code. The need for Ctrl+U comes from the Unix way to copy+paste: Select and paste with middle mouse button. If you use Ctrl+A and then Del, you have overwritten the clipboard. I have been trying to adapt myself, for example using the CUA method for copy/paste, but unlearning old Unix habits is not so easy, especially as the Unix way of copy/paste is still convenient in applications like Konsole. I can't find an easy way to get back the old behaviour in the hotkey settings of Konqueror. Making ctrl+U no longer open the HTML sources is easy, but I can't find a way to assign ctrl+U to clear the current input field. There is ctrl+L but it only applies to the URL bar. Therefore I would like to ask: Is there a way to get back the old behaviour? |

menubar, settings/condigure shortcuts. filter for "clear" and assign a shortcut of your preference to "clear location bar"

This is assigned ctrl+L and affects the URL bar. You can't clear <INPUT> fields in HTML pages with ctrl+L.

Ah, you actually meant form elements. Sorry.
This still works, but is probably a feature of khtml, not supported by webkit. Click the burger toolbutton (opens settings dialog) and in the general page, select khtml as default browser engine. |

Ah great, that indeed returns the old behaviour. Thanks!
