KDE Connect does not see the phone

Mon Jun 06, 2016 12:07 pm
I am running KDE Connect on my Android L phone (installed today from Google Play Store).

Both the laptop running KDE and the phone are on the same wireless network.

But none of the devices can see the other.

How do I set this right?

What versions of each?

For example I have kdeconnect 0.8-0ppa3+pkg7~ubuntu14.04.1 on the desktop (newer versions have not been packaged for *buntu 14.04) and version 1.0.2 on the phone. They work, with some instability but reliably see each other.

Here are the version numbers:

KDE Connect v1.2 on the phone
KDE Connect v0.9 release 6.fc24 on the computer

Sometimes for me it helps to open the KDE Connect app on the phone, to make sure it has not stopped. Check for available devices on the phone. If none, open KDE Connect Settings on the computer (via the tray icon) and check for available devices there.

I have tried all permutations and combinations. None work.

You may have already tried this, but I had the same problem and fixed it by disabling the firewall momentarily, connecting to the phone and enabling the firewall again (having defined the appropriate rules).

Could not check this. I do not know how to disable firewall momentarily and google does not produce any convincing results.

However, checked the firewall settings. It allows ports 1714-1764 on tcp as well as udp for kdeconnect.

Same problem: My desktop can't see my devices.
With version 0.9g everything works, but version 1.0 and 1.0.1 can't see the devices.

kdeconnect on Android: 1.4.4

No firewall. Phone and tablet can be paired.

Any suggestions?
