Hi guys
A classic oldie. It's been over a decade and I think still as fresh as the first time: Is there an easy way to click your way to a share (NFS/SMB) and play a video? I'd like a real solution meaning sure, I can mount them in fstab, but if I leave home it will give me troubles at boot. Sure I can define the SMB settings in VLC for a SINGLE share, but if those authentication don't work on a different server, you need to start again. I'd like something that works more...naturally. So far: SMB shares show automatically on my Dolphin, and I can click/authenticate/browse them with no issue...until I need to open a video. Then kio slaves are brought in, and it all crashes like it always did. NFS Shares don't even show, but if I type a path nfs://my_share_address, it shows immediately...provided the IP is authorized for ALL folders listed...if it isn't authorized to just ONE of the paths shown, it all fails completely. So I can't direct it to show me the folders on the root of the share, for example. Is there an easy/intuitive way to navigate my way to a non-previously-preconfigured share and open a file/video, and getting it to work without previous configuration? |

You could use smb4k to browse and mount SMB shares.
