Touchpad gets disabled when toggling airplane mode

Laptop: Dell Inspiron 3558
KDE Neon 5.12
Plasma Version: 5.12.5
Kernel Version: 4.13.0
I have this weird issue where every time I enable airplane mode using the Fn (Function) key combination on my keyboard, my touchpad also gets disabled.
Only way is to logout and log back in or use synclient to enable touchpad.
Any input appreciated.

Yes, and its still happening in plasma 5.13.1. I feel like I should report it as a bug but still any help or workarounds are appreciated
