this is my first question in this forum. Please tellme if I'm in the correct channel or redirect if you please.
Yesterday my wireless adapter worked fine as usual. I usually install updates via Discover (KDE Neon 16.04). This morning I booted my machine normally but wireless refused to connect to any network, so I looked up in the forums and just used `sudo iwconfig wlp2s0 essid myphone` and set my mobile wifi hotspot to open, since trying with wpa_supplicant on my WPA network did'nt work ( or at least that's what I thought) in which , some of the commands I entered was `sudo wpa_supplicant -Dwext -iwlp2s0 -c/etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf sudo dhclient wlp2s0` after that, somehow I was able to connect to my usual WPA2-PSK network. but now signal is very low compared to how it was before in the same physical space. Sometimes even drops to 1 bar. This is my dmesg | grep iwl output: `mesg | grep iwl [ 3.060107] iwlwifi 0000:02:00.0: loaded firmware version 17.608620.0 op_mode iwlmvm [ 3.096067] iwlwifi 0000:02:00.0: Detected Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless AC 7260, REV=0x144` my kernel version is 4.13.0.43 in KDE Neon (16.04) I don't know which firmware version is newest compatible with my system, and how to install it. Thanks in advance. |
