A couple of ideas:
You might have an e-mail notifier in your System Tray. Right-click on the up arrow and select System Tray Settings. Examine the lists in the General and Entries tabs to see if there are any entries related to mail.

You may have left-over account settings. Check in System Settings -> Online Accounts and the Akonadi Console (separate application, accept the warning).
