I'm working for one month now with kde4.1 (before gnome)
I really like the new KDE enviroment, but I miss the IRC integration of Kopete. Does anybody know if this is coming back?

It is being worked on, though i don't know if it will do it in time for 4.2. So, yes, it should be back some time.

Why was IRC disabled in KDE 4's Kopete?

IRC will not be in 4.2, but hopefully we'll be able to get it in 4.3.
It was disabled because during the porting to KDE4 the maintainer decided to do a major refactoring, but then ran short of time

I hope kopete's irc will be powerful enough (like konversation or so)

what features would you need, to consider it "powerful enough"?

Hmm, this discussion is already 1.5 years old. I'm on Kubuntu Lucid, i.e.
KDE 4.4.2 and Kopete 1.0.0.

But still I don't see IRC. Can that be true or am I just missing something?
