Hello,

Noob here trying to switch from Windows to Linux so thanks in advance for any help. Regarding torrent download thought the Magnet link I mess up things.

I installed Manjaro KDE but it comes with qBittorrent as the standard torrent so I decided to install Ktorrent too, once it's from KDE community, but beside it was easy to change standard application to open *.torrent files it was a bit hard to change the standard application associated to MAGNET link so I made some researches and found some command related to the "xdg-mime default" and after some syntax try outs I was finally able to make Ktorrent the standard application for MAGNET link but next I realize that Ktorrent was very slow to open magnet links and there are complaints on the the internet about it, so I decided to back to qBittorrent but I wasn't able to revert tge MAGNET standard application, probably because i was typing wrongly syntax for any reason so decided to figure out how to change it from config files witch probably made the issue worst. Finally I decided to install Manjaro in the VM trying to recreate all steps in order to recreate the files properly once i didn't made back-up, but I end up with the error below:

Error - KIOExec
Unable to create io-slave. klauncher said: Unkown protocol 'magnet'.

I remembered to change only two file, but I might change other one that I don't remember

/home/“user”/.config/mimeapps.list
/usr/share/applications/mimeinfo.cache

It worth to mention that Firefox can launch qBottorrent directly to download magnet link, while Vivaldi don't, it launches first the "xdg-open" function.

This issue was too complicated to fix, I got some feedback from Manjaro community but they didn't work so I diced to format the HD and to a fresh install again.

Linux has the ability to make complex things into simple ones and also the opposite, simple things into a very complex ones. :D
