A tad more information about your system is always a good idea, but...
AFAIK there is no client for WhatsApp on Linux, how is this a KDE problem? You really should be a tad more verbose about the exact circumstances you experience this.
Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ... |

I have exactly the same issue.
It seems to appear only for Kubuntu. PC with Ubuntu open whatsapp links smoothly. |

I can open PDF and image files without any problem, what kind of link is this? I bet it does not depend on where the link is from but what kind of application is needed to open the sent item. That would be a MIME type error, not a KDE or Kubuntu one
