Hi, I'm trying to use KRFB (package version 21.12.1-2) with Wayland (1.20.0-1) on Arch Linux; but when I attempt to connect to the VNC server from another computer it fails on KRDC (21.12.2-1), and crashes TigerVNC Viewer (1.12.0-1) with a "malloc" error. I used wireshark to grab the packets, and it appears to be requesting a 65535x65535 framebuffer, which is far too large. Do note that I can connect to the VNC server, it just appears to have a extremely large framebuffer for some reason. I am using the "pw" framebuffer plugin, and I have pipewire (1:0.3.44-1) and xdg-desktop-portal-kde (5.23.5-1).

Is this a known bug, and if not any ideas on fixing it?

Maybe try a newer version? I don't use krfb myself, but it is actively developed and has a new planned release this week

Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ...

Hi,

I use krfb and krdc since years now, avoid the "pw" frame buffer plug-in, prefer the default one with xcb.
Avoid the wayland session, try to vnc with x11.

Remote with krdc and share with krfb, cross platform and operating system flexible.

KDE did a nice job with those 2 soft, krfb and krdc.

I have exactly the same problem as the author, with `pipewire 0.3.52` and Plasma stack `5.24.5`. On Wayland with AMD Mesa driver (on Renoir), the distribution is Solus.
When connecting with TigerVNC to KRFB server I also get malloc error, and when using krdc I get the question if I want to allow the connection on the host, but then the client says the password is wrong and asks me to enter it again, over and over again.
Any way to get more debug output somehow? Could this be related? https://www.linuxquestions.org/question ... ost6289798
Edit: 2 bugs that relate to this have been reported already, hope they will get fixed at one point: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=454036 https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=451086

Hi,

unfortunately krfb + wayland doesn't work for months now.

Please add a function to disable the share function pop up on start with krfb, the last issue with this function is the crash of the device, the desktop is block after select it, the screen freeze.

KDE plasma version 5.26.3
KDE frameworks version 5.99.0
Qt version 5.15.7
kernel 5.15.78-1

krfb 22.08.3-1
