i am new to linux and have installed ubuntu. i wanted to use kde connect, but i am facing issues mainly that the devices don't show up.
1. Obvious but important, both devices need to be on the same network

2. Is the kdeconnect process running:
ps -ef | grep kdeconnect

Example output:
user 3399 1 0 08:26 ? 00:00:02 /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libexec/kdeconnectd

3. Is the process listening?
sudo ss -turelp | grep kdeconnect

Example output
udp UNCONN 0 0 *:xmsg *:* users:(("kdeconnectd",pid=972,fd=11)) uid:1000 ino:25723 sk:2 cgroup:/user.slice/user-1000.slice/session-1.scope v6only:0 <->
tcp LISTEN 0 50 *:xmsg *:* users:(("kdeconnectd",pid=972,fd=12))

4. Maybe your firewall gets in the way?
Is the firewall running?
sudo ufw status

If yes, turn it off for the test
sudo ufw disable

5. Are the ports open/blocked?
netcat -z -v <your-phones-ip> 1714-1764 # Try phone and laptop, use port which netstat shows

Example output:
Connection to <your -phones-ip> 1716 port [tcp/*] succeeded!
+ lots of Connection refused, but you need 1 "succeeded"

I have tried these commands to solve m problems and i have been unable to solve the issues. Because , i tried various solutions, the 5th suggestion "Are the ports open/blocked" gives incorrect output-"No route to host" whereas previously it used to give correct output, i can still ping my mobile with laptop . Please help me, thank you.

I have 2 samsung mobiles, both running android and with kde connect and a laptop running opensuse tumbleweed.
Interesting thing, with mobile 1 I can connect to the other mobile and to the laptop, even accessing files on the mobile from the laptop. There is no share files menu entry on the mobile.
From the mobile 2 I can connect to the mobile 1, but it does not even see the laptop and vice versa.
What is different between the mobiles, they are in different Wifi Networks (2,4 and 5 GHz) with diffent names (A and B), but share the same IP-Network. The laptop is in the same Wifi network as the mobile 1 (A), bug even if I switch it to network B, it does not see mobile 2. Mobile 2 cannot be switched, since it does not have the 5GHz unit.
But since the 2 mobiles see each other, the different networks should not be the problem, nor is the kde connect installation the problem.
Can anybody tell me, what may be wrong, how the connection finding is done or where I can read and reenact the steps necessary.
Thanks in advance for your answers
