Just to clear out. I have no problems with Germans. My favorite distro is suse since 2002, BMW is a good car, girls are nice too, BUT Konqueror shows me all web content on German what can be showed on German. If I'm not logged in my Blogger, iGoodle page, Skype, etc. starts default on German. Can I set default to English?
Thanks |

Is your system default language set to German? If it is you may need to switch to English before opening Konqueror to browse the web. I am not aware of a web browser that has a setting to determine its language ( especially when it integrates with the system )

In System Settings the default language is set to English. In Konqueror i didn't find any option referring to the language.

This is unusual. Are all Konqueror's menus, configuration dialogs, etc. in English? This seems to somehow be a bug. Have you ever changed your language from English?

Yeah, all is in English. I have never changed language settings in KDE.

Perhaps the configuration file has got a bad setting in it. Try removing $KDEHOME/share/config/konquerorrc
On openSUSE, KDE 4 uses ~/.kde4 for $KDEHOME.

I renamed konquerorrc and started konqueror again. Nothing changed.
This konqueror bug https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=164642 is also about browser identification problems - but it's something different. I'll submit a new bug report. EDIT:https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=179668

Are you by any chance using some sort of proxy or tor that might give you an German or Dutch IP address? Some websites try to determine what language you "want" based on where you are located, and it could have nothing to do with Konqueror. Also, does does that happen with other browsers?

No proxy here, and yes it happens just with Konqueror.

Just remembered... In Settings » Web Browsing » Browser Identification, do you have "Add language" checked? Does it show up as "en-US, en" (or whichever English you use)?

So... it's changed a bit. Now the pages like www.skype.com are showed by default on Czech.
Got now answer to the bug report. :-S |
