I've had a bit of a situation with my other machine which is running KDE as well. I couldn't log into KDE, except when I moved the old config files already in place.
Everything is up and running now, but one thing I sorely miss are my "network folders" in Network places. I've tried to copy my old Dolphin directories from the original /share/config and /share/apps (which worked for all my other applications) but for some reason all those network directories are still lost. Is there any other directory/file I need to restore?

Look into ~/.kde(4)/share/apps/remoteview

Does this work for backing up / restoring *all* Dolphin "places", or just the network places? If the latter, any idea where the other places are stored?

The file $KDEHOME/share/apps/kfileplaces/bookmarks.xml stores the KDE file places as accessible in Dolphin and the Open/Save file dialog.

Thanks bcooksley!
I suspect this will help quite a few people as this thread comes up constantly in any search for "backup dolphin places". |
