How to disable plugins in akregator

Sat Jan 10, 2009 8:01 pm
I am using akregator with KDE 3.5.9 from Debian Lenny/sid. I wonder, how should I disable plugins, especially flash? I have disabled plugins in konqueror settings, however flash is still showing in akregator tabs, while in konqueror session it is working as expected.

I am not sure that this can be configured through the GUI or if it can be configured at all.

It would be great if you could report this on bugs.kde.org so that the developers can add such an option or take the ones from Konqueror.

What you can try though is using the following command on the command line:

Code: Select all
% kwriteconfig --file akregatorrc --group "Java/JavaScript Settings" --key EnablePlugins --type bool false

This sets or creates an entry in Akregator's config file which will be the equivalent of the following text section

Code: Select all
[Java/JavaScript Settings]
EnablePlugins=false

The assumption behind this is that the file already contains other KHTML settings so it is probably passed to the embedded KHTML component and it should also evaluate the plugin setting correctly.

Cheers,
