I got a message of "Could NOT find Decibel (missing: DECIBEL_LIBRARIES)" while compiling kopete, and I have already install the decibel package.
Does anyone knows why ? Thanks |

Which distro are you using? Perhaps you have to install a decibel-devel package?
For future questions, you should specify your distro/OS in your User CP. Cheers, m code | cia.vc | donating KDE | wishlist |

I am using Kubuntu 8.10 Kde4.2 Beta 2.
Also, I have installed the decibel-dev package and I can find the decibel libraries manually in the path /usr/lib/decibel. But the message was keeping pop-up while compiling. |

Maybe the version of Decibel that you have is too old. You may need to compile the latest version from KDE support.

Thanks all. Finally, I finished compiling kopete, but it didn't work.Haha.
Is there any difference between kopete compiled from source and kopete installed from apt-get? Also, does kopete support webcam ? I can see my webcam device and preview in configuration but I can't send or receive webcam from my friends. So strange! |

In what way didn't it work? I've found that mine doesn't work either and wonder if it might be the same ... for me the configuration dialog is completely blank if I start it with no settings ... other than that, if I copy over an old set of settings, it looks like I'm receiving messages, but the messages dialog is empty, and I can't really send or receive anything. Edit:Wait ... guess something just went wacky with the style, it's working.

Umm..it is completely the same as yours. The configuration dialog is completely blank.
I dont know which part of the compiling process goes wrong. |

It is more than likely because resource files cannot be found, or libraries are of the incorrect versions ( ie: the system installed version over your compiled one ). Ensure that you have set the appropriate environment variables.
