Static ip?

Sun Jan 18, 2009 4:37 am
Does anyone know how to set up a static ip on kubuntu8.10.
It seems that static ip doesn't work with KnetworkManager.
Will it be fixed in the release of kde4.2? Thanks all.

Right click on the KNetworkManager icon in the system tray
Select "Edit Connections". In the new window, select New Connection -> Wired
Set up your network from there.

Since I don't have a wireless network here, I cant help with that. Have you tried New Connection -> Wireless and see if offers any settings?

From the limited time I used KNetworkManager, I do know it offers static IP addresses for Wireless connections. I use WICD currently, so I can remain connected when compiling KDE at runlevel 3.
