[SOLVED] anonsvn.kde.org down?

Tue Jan 20, 2009 4:47 pm
Since a few hours I'm only getting
Code: Select all
svn: Can't connect to host 'anonsvn.kde.org': Connection refused

Does anybody know what's going on? Temporary glitch, planned downtime, server busy streaming Obama's inauguration ;) or more serious problems?

Downloading SVN Versions (if anything of 4.3) seven days before the release of 4.2 ?!

Hmmm ....

[SOLVED] anonsvn.kde.org down?

Wed Jan 21, 2009 10:12 am
I wondered that, too. It's a bit strange, according to the Techbase article
anonsvn.kde.org is a round robin DNS entry, which will resolve to one out of several anonsvn mirrors.

When I try to check out from the mentionend mirror at kde.mneisen.org I get the same error message:
Code: Select all
svn: Can't connect to host 'kde.mneisen.org': Connection refused

When I ping anonsvn.kde.org, it gets resolved everytime to the same machine
Code: Select all
$ ping anonsvn.kde.org
PING anonsvn.kde.org (131.174.31.25) 56(84) bytes of data.
64 bytes from kde.codeyard.cs.ru.nl (131.174.31.25): icmp_seq=1 ttl=52 time=45.2 ms
64 bytes from kde.codeyard.cs.ru.nl (131.174.31.25): icmp_seq=2 ttl=52 time=44.5 ms

which indicates that the machine is up, just the svn server is not running, which also wonders me a bit, because Adrian said in his blog post that the machine did not came up after a power outage (but, well, that's absolutely possible, that just the svn service died)

It seems not to be the first time that the mirroring fails, Adrian wrote about that in an older blog post in which he comes to the conclusion
Probably "hope it stays up for several months again" is the best solution.

So, I'm sorry, but waiting until anonsvn comes up again seems to be the only solution, at least to my knowledge.

[SOLVED] anonsvn.kde.org down?

Wed Jan 21, 2009 1:35 pm
Thanks for the hint, but anonsvn.kde.org also seems to be up again ;)

Edit: Well, not really
Code: Select all
37% svn: Connection closed unexpectedly
...

Edit2: Seems to be just some start up problems (high load because of too many requests after the break?).

Looks like it's running now ..

Setting Topic to solved and thanks to all admins, ... who spent their time and worked to get things working again!
