So the best solution is to consider to move to free jabber service at Google or at some other free service of thousands available. Ask your friends to move away from ICQ and you'll never face such situation again. alukin, proud to be a member of KDE forums since 2008-Nov.

Maybe they even have a document The fix is in SVN since couple of days, http://websvn.kde.org/?view=rev&revision=916555. You can compile Kopete from SVN or ask your distribution to add the patch (it was backported to KDE 4.2.1 and 4.1.x)
