Hi there,

I'm using KDE 4.2 under Arch Linux and I've just tested the rssnow widget that comes with KDE 4.2.
When I click on one of my feeds, rssnow opens firefox (which is my standard browser) with the website of the feed article. That's fine. However rssnow also seems to start konqueror, because additional to firefox there's also a task manager bar entry for konqueror sitting in my panel. The entry is just sitting there, but no konqueror window is coming up. After a minute or so the entry disappears from the task manager bar.

Why is rssnow starting konqueror at all? Does anybody know how to disable this, because it's rather annoying to have these zombie entries sitting there when I click on several rss articles.

TIA,
Blackhole

Hi, solution here worked for me as well.

solved-rssnow-does-not-open-links-directly-konqueror-t-21666.html

Konqueror was sitting on top of the program list. Just moved Firefox to the top to get its priority for html and xhtml. Have Fun.

Cheers,
OsZ

No, it didn't work for me. :(
I've put Firefox to the top for html xhtml, xml, rss and atom. Still I have that stupid konqueror entry sitting there, while Firefox is started.

No solution for me? It's still not working. RSSNOW keeps putting that Konqueror entry in my task bar.

System Settings -> Advanced -> File Associations
Search for "xml" and look under the "application" category for "rss+xml" and set the desired browser to the top priority for the type *.rss (right column)

Like said in my former post, that's exactly what I've done. Still Firefox AND Konqueror are started. :(

Is nobody having the same problem? There must be a lot of Firefox users out there. Is RSSNOW working fine for you guys? What happens when you click on an RSS article?

For me, it open Firefox right away. In my settings, all .rss and xhtml files are set to open in FF.

Well it did heal itself somehow. The Konqueror task bar entry is gone. Strange world. ^^
