Hello,

I am trying to set up some shared folders in kde-4.2 using nfs and zeroconf. While setting up zeroconf to make nfs service available was a success, the resulting shared folder browsing is surely not.

I want to share a folder /home/user/Archives/, so I put
Code: Select all
/home/user/Archives/ *(rw,insecure,no_root_squash,sync)
to my /etc/exports. Yet somehow I cannot access this folder through nfs kpart till I make my /home/ folder rw-availible too. I get Folder not available error otherwise. If I add /home/ as ro I cannot write to /home/user/Archives/ too.

If I go to nfs://host.domain:2049/ I can see shared folders listed with the full path. But the "/" in that path is shown as "⁄", a symbol that neither konqueror nor dolphin recongnize. So I cannot use these links and have to type the path manually.

I have also noticed that in a folder with a large amout of files (like my ~/) nfs kpart doesn't display any files, kio_nfs consumes all available memory instead.

Am I doing something wrong or is there a bunch of bugs to report?

This sounds more like quite a few bugs. Especially the large folder listing, eat stacks of memory issue.
