I have some problems with putting in sharing a folder. I tried to install samba and smb4k but I still can't share. When I try to set options for a folder by Properties I enter the password but nothing happens. I also went to System settings, but nothing has changed after I set the name and password.
Don't look back.

Huh, what's the matter?
Have I discovered the bug of the millennium? I did a search but the answers given to others have not worked. Sorry if I'm asking something obvious, but as you can see I'm quite a noob :P
Don't look back.

Are you trying to browse stuff already shared, or share stuff on your machine with others?
Also which version of KDE are you using? ( Highly suspects 3.5.x )

i would answer you but... i hate samba.. because it hates me.. it NEVER worked as it should when i tryed to configure it with a gui... so i always configure it manually and edit smb.conf by hand... and even then it hates me ^^
it should not be necessary to install anything.. filesharing in a lan is essential... i hope kde4.X will provide a better relationship between waldelf&samba..

Not sure if there's a bug but hacking the file in kate as per this how-to got me going again by adding the missing lines in the share info at the bottomg of ../../smb.conf as they were missing after I had configured filesharing via Konqueror. |
