@primoz:
I just found something interesting out. I can go to BBC and watch flash videos. But youtube and CNN just blank out. And CNN pages for video won't even finish loading. I won't get any of the text rendering on the page. :-S I wonder if it has something to do with how the flash is embedded in the page? Konq may not be picking up on the flash if it is embedded in certain ways.

Yes I came to same conclusion. As I said in my opening post Konq works greatly with Flash embedded on my faculty site and also Blip.tv (similar to YouTube). No I don't know if it's due to embeding problem or version problem eg. Which Flash version do devs of site use to produce the Flash effects. I'm sure that something YouTube and Adobe use the newest flash while some other use the flash they have (not necessaryly the version 10)... But you're theory might hold more merit than my.

@primoz: Can you post how the flash is embedded in your faculty site? Maybe if we can look at the embedding of sites that work and sites that don't we can figure out the difference and where the problem is. For example CNN uses something called BVPPlayer to embed the flash on its pages. The BBC uses object code and javascript to show the flash movie.

OK here's the source code of my faculty site:
I wanted to add also the code of Blip.tv, but I have a trouble of locating the flash embeded object. But at first sight it looks like it uses java for it. Here's the link if you'll have more luck with it. Hope that helps.

@primoz:
It looks like blip.tv uses something called pokkariplayer. And you are right, they use javascript to embed the video. CNN uses BVPPlayer and div tags. They don't use javascript or object-embed code. Same for Youtube.

So it seems that this is "solved" in a way that we know why there is a problem... But how to fix it is a different thing... But if Konqueror wants to be a useful browser it has to be fixed... I dare to ask it: Does KHTML have problems with div? Well more likely with BVPPlayer LOL... Or is it again the notorious identity problem (but non fake identity worked..)

Are you sure? The KMplayer page says that it should be in Debian/Ubuntu repositories...

Oh I didn't realised that it was a part of KMPlayer Then only thing I need to know is hot to get it working. Hot to override the Flash with this KMPlayer plug-in? If that what it is.. I really don't get it. I would really like if you would describe the whole process step-by-step. That would be very helpful!

Damn you Kubuntu! It seems that KMplayer is not compiled with npplayer in Kubuntu.
But on How-To site it says how it's done, so I'll try that and report.

I compiled it and installed it, but I still can't get YouTube to work.
But the problem is that How-To is a bit old (for Hardy) so that might be a problem... I have no idea what to do. Well I guess I'll have to wait a bit with changing from Firefox to Konqueror...

So what happens if you run:
Also, what version of KMplayer do you have? Is it Qt4 (>= 0.11.0) if you're using KDE4? And, did you verify that libflashplayer.so in the tutorial is in the same location as yours? I got this working with Gentoo, so it can't be because it's too old. (For some reason, Kopete stopped giving me notifications when I get new messages...)

No I have 0.10.0c. I'll go to their site and download the new one than I'll see if that works. Also I "fear" it's not a embeding problem. I posted this problem on Kubuntu forums to ask how should I compile KMPlayer to really get it working. And one of answers was this:
YouTube and Blip work fine, but CNN doesn't. Now I see what you mean. The plugin doesn't even load. I wonder what the difference is. Very weird...
So it seems that it's not just embeding but something else as this users can get YouTube works but not CNN.

I also can't get CNN. My guess is that it uses some stupid way of checking your Flash version and it does not work out.
