Kopete Problems

Thu Mar 05, 2009 11:16 pm
Hello there...I switched from amsn to kopete after the offline message implementation, because it is kde 4 integrated. But I have two specific problems that I would like to be corrected before being happy with it.

First of all, when somebody sends me a message, a notification appears with two buttons, view and ignore.None of them is working when I press them.Is it a known bug?

Secondly, I cannot add custom emoticons when another user sends me one and if I try to add one via System Settings in kde it says that it has not the rights to write to the location of emoticons...I changed the location's read/write setting with chmod, added the emoticon again (this time it did not complain about anything) but the emoticon would not appear in kopete and after I closed and opened again System Settings it had gone...Can anybode help me on these problems?

Kopete notification buttons not working: From last memory these did not work for me either, but that was back in the KDE 4.2 Betas. You may wish to update to KDE 4.2 if you haven't already.

Emoticons: If you are not running KDE 4.2, please upgrade and retest. If you can reproduce, pleas search for pre-existing bugs on bugs.kde.org, and file one if none exists.

So that future searchers can track the issue, could you please post links here to the bugs you filed? Thanks in advance.

For the emoticons bug:
http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=186314

For the view ignore buttons bug I 've found a similar confirmed bug that hasn't been corrected yet:
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=182481

If anyone had the same problems and corrected them somehow, a workaround would be very welcome...

So I went at kopete's configuration at Behavior tab -> Events. I checked 'Button "Ignore" in new message popups closes chat' and now the view and ignore buttons work.Strange...
