I've disabled this Kopete global notifications because I've a lot of contacts, and Kopete is a notifications festival:

- User connections
- Incoming messages (and messages opened automatically by contact groups)

But I need this notifications only for some users:

- Incoming messages
- Incoming messages in active chat
- Contact connected

I've activated it, but doesn't work. Any workaround?

I'm using:
$ kopete --version
Qt: 4.4.3
KDE: 4.2.2 (KDE 4.2.2)
Kopete: 0.70.2

I've got the same problem. Kopete doesn't honor notifier settings. I've been searching a lot on the internet to see if other users have the same problem, couldn't find anything so far.
