I have installed the latest java from sun on a fresh opensuse 11 system through yast.
Afterwards I have done the recommended ...
Result: firefox works perfect konqueror is being a pain in the youknowwhere as it says java is not installed. My settings in konqueror: It looks that one way or another I have to tell konqueror where java is installed, however I don't see what's wrong. Now ... - konqueror performs way better with this particular applet (in the past at least), firefox is no real option - i'm using 32-bit opensuse 11.0 with kde 3.5 hope someone can point me into the right direction cheers |

I'm able to narrow down the problem:
- On a clean installed system, after installing the latest sun java, konqueror works perfect with applets. - However, if i reboot the system I get the same error again in konqueor: 'java is not installed or can't display applets' (while it works perfect in fiirefox) this is really odd |

Try just /usr/bin/java, that should be symlinked correctly through the alternatives system.
The plugin step you discribed is probably necessary for Firefox, it has not effect for Konqueror since it does not use the netscape plugin for Java. Cheers, _

Thanks for the tip, but unfortunately to no avail.

Probably a bug then.
Can you report it on bugs.kde.org or the SUSE bug tracker? Cheers, _
