Hi there,

the kopete icon is missing in my kde 4.2.2 system tray (a question mark is displayed).
Reinstalling of kopete and/or the oxygen icons didn't help. As this error occurs only at my debian system I suppose it is an error at my machine.

How can I check if the system tray "looks" for the right icon?

Thanks

Try running "kbuildsycoca4 --noincremental" and trying with a new user to see if you can reproduce first. Please also ensure that XDG_DATA_DIRS contains $KDEDIR/share.

Tried your commands without any success. This also happens with a newly created user.

It appears that icons are missing from your system. Please ensure that you have installed the needed artwork packages.

The icons are in the kopete package itself.

Is there a way to search for the icon (path) that kopete tries to display in the system tray?

I believe it will follow either $KDEDIR or $XDG_DATA_DIRS. Ensure that $XDG_DATA_DIRS includes at least /usr/share, and $KDEDIR/share, and that $KDEDIR is set.
