just a quick question.. its not that i am not able to install samba manually and configure it with smb.conf.. im just courious.. how is this intended to function? i did a clean new install of the latest kubuntu release for testing purposes...
i rightclick on a folder and chose "properties" .. there i find the tab "share" i click on it.. and then on the button "configure file sharing" .. i enter my password.. and nothing happens... it tries to start "kcmshell filesharing" and nothing happens.. wtf? how are kubuntu users expected to share files in a small homenetwork? what is the prefered way to share a folder in the lokal area network? why isn't samba installed? noone can expect a new user to know what samba is or how to install it.. thx! the funny thing is.. even if samba and everything you need is installed.. (and you get the configuration dialog.. it probably won't work ... i allways end up in the console hacking the conf file...
