Hi everyone
I'm new to kubuntu & linux world and today i decided to try kubuntu to setup a small server (mainly to share music and videos with my brother) I downloaded Kubuntu 9.04 from the internet and installed it (everything ok) Then i logged into KDE and tried to start KRFB (desktop sharing). Now from my windows xp laptop I try to connect to kubuntu using TightVNC. The connection seems ok (it asks me to input the password), but as soon as I see the desktop appearing in the vncviewer window, everything is stuck. I can't do anything from my laptop... I tried to look carefully at kubuntu: when i move the mouse in the vncviewer and click on a "remote window" everything seems frozen, but watching at kubuntu i see action correctly performed on the server I tried almost every type of connection available from TightVNC (raw, hextile, tight etc...) Any suggestion? Thanks in advice... PS: i already download every upgrade available for kubuntu |

Unfortunately KRFB does not work well with the advanced effects used by KDE. I would recommend configuring KDE with desktop effects disabled, and the Plastique style. You may also wish to ensure that your X server has been configured to allow optimum use of VNC ( The K/Ubuntu site should have some guides on this )

I believe the X servers inbuilt VNC server works very well, guides to install and configure it should be available, unfortunately I do not know how to configure it.

Also have a look at NX remote server, I hear it is very good.
