I use wicd for my network connections because I find networkmanager a bit buggy right now and I want to connect to kopete accounts each time I connect to a network via wicd. Is there any connection status plugin for kopete, not networkmanager-related?

Wicd supports scripting, but the scripts are executed with root privileges, that poses a problem with dbus-send of qdbus. Is there any way to execute dbus for another user?

A Solid Backend has been developed and will be shipped as part of KDE 4.3, which will allow Kopete to recieve the event automatically upon connection. Unfortunately, it only works with 1.6+ which hasn't been released yet.
