I have GoogleTalk running and can communicate fine with a couple of friends. But when I try to send a file, it simply do not work. Any suggestions? As I said, chat is running fine.

In the main window of Kopete: Settings>Configure>Accounts>Add account>Jabber

Jabber ID: Your gmail address (complete)
Remember password (if you like)

In the connection tab:

All three boxes should be checked. The server is talk.google.com and port is 5223.

I remember back in around November I could transfer files fine with the 3.5 Kopete. But then one day it just stopped working, and I couldn't transfer files with neither 3.5 nor 4.X.

Kopete doesn't currently support the XEP that GTalk uses for file transfer.

See the developer's mailing list: http://osdir.com/ml/kopete-devel/2009-05/msg00000.html
