I always tried to get konqueror to work in mandriva 2009.0 and kde 4.1, but it failed me, and the same with konq in 3.5 at 2008.1 and pclinuxos. Konqueror was never up to the task, it would stop working here and there and shut off internet for all desktop until reboot or urmpi to fix, websites load weird all the time, slow, annoying, but in mandriva 2009 spring and kde 4.2.2 i have to say KHTML is not dead yet, it is only beginning.

First of all, pages load much faster! On peacekeeper, konqueror scored 581 for me http://service.futuremark.com/peacekeeper/index.action with firefox at 395 (higher is better) many websites that havn't worked before now work (AOL video even! http://video.aol.com/video-detail/faith ... 1690559029 ) children of the nile online, option c, gamespot, and many more that konq never would load) also there is no freeze ups, konqueror made its way to default!

just thought to spread my happy story here, as usually kde team must get a lot of complaints, but not too many compliments.

Out of curiosity I ran the Peacekeeper tests too in KDE 4.2.3 on FreeBSD-7.0:

* my main browser Konqueror got 403 points
* my alternative browser Opera 9.64 (through linux emulation) got 570
* Firefox 3.0.6 (which just happens to be installed) got 490

It should be noted that Konqueror had been running a lot longer though.. and it had 2 open tabs and one of them was making page-reload (fairly slight though) regularly.

Yesterday I removed my Firefox 3.0.6 and installed 3.5beta4 (from source).

Firefox 3.5beta4 got only 367 points..

I also noticed that while Konqueror was running the tests, I didn't even notice it while using the rest of KDE, but when Opera or Firefox ran the tests, it felt like my computer was doing some very-very heavy compiling, ie. they were using all the CPU.
