I set the proxy correctly in my KDE because Amarok, Firefox, etc work good with internet.

So, can be this fix it?

So... I think you should place

instead
Code: Select all
http   http://cache-1.in.crous-toulouse.fr   3128

The errors ypu are recieving are not generated by proxychains, I think. It should be from Kopete.

in S-chain log string you whould see the try to connect to your proxy. If not, proxychains is not configured properly.

And that is hy your Kopete connects to your 127.0.0.1:9050 insread of proxy (look at my proxychains log above).

There are the same lines for configuring the proxy?

Where I can find the logs files?

Thanks

So, how to configure it?

It probably lacks configuration. I would recommend filing a bug at bugs.kde.org. If it has to do a socket connection however, then KDE may be lacking support for configuring a SOCKS proxy. In any case, it is a bug that is present at a location in the stack.

I'm sorry to bring this thread up, is there any luck for HTTP Proxy support in Kopete? Or is there any brave soul out there that would like to share his/her configuration for using Kopete with HTTP Proxy?

I'm in Kubuntu Lucid and this morning it removes Pidgin. So, I guess this is the right time for me to try this one more time. Is Kopete ready for HTTP Proxy? Can I have 100% KDE this time?

Long Live KDE! :D

Proxychains doesn't help me.

As I remember there was a discussion that Proxychains send CONNECT, while Squid doesn't accept it?

Hi,

Finally, it worked for me.

As described above by Pavel, Squid accept CONNECT only for port 443.

Just choose port 443 for ICQ.

Will there be any out of box support for proxies in the newer version of Kopete, or its already there?

At least at Kopete version 1.0.80 is there.

Just go to Configure->Accounts->Modify the account -> Connections

and there is a Proxy entry, namely HTTP Proxy or SOCKS proxy.

I'm using Gentoo 64bit with the following:
Code: Select all
kde-base/kopete-4.6.2 was built with the following:
USE="addbookmarks autoreplace contactnotes gadu groupwise handbook highlight history jingle latex meanwhile msn (multilib) nowlistening oscar otr pipes privacy qq skype sms ssl statistics texteffect translator urlpicpreview v4l2 webpresence winpopup xmpp yahoo zeroconf (-aqua) -debug (-kdeenablefinal) (-kdeprefix) -testbed"

When I run Kopete:
Code: Select all
kopete --version
Qt: 4.7.2
KDE Development Platform: 4.6.2 (4.6.2)
Kopete: 1.0.80

I'm accessing Settings --> Configure --> Accounts --> [my Yahoo Account] --> Modify Account --> Account Preferences.

The above infos stated I'm using 1.0.80 and I'm accessing what you may said, but I don't have the proxy entry in Account Preferences. Could you elaborate more?
