is display redirection supposed to work with kde4?
I am tunneling to a remote machine using ssh -X and try to call an application, like kwrite. It doesn't work. I get:

bergue@hawkeye:~> kwrite
kdeinit4: preparing to launch /usr/lib64/kde4/libexec/klauncher
klauncher(3551) kdemain: No DBUS session-bus found. Check if you have started the DBUS server.
kdeinit4: Communication error with launcher. Exiting!

Is this a configuration problem?

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Try launching KWrite like so:

dbus-launch kwrite

This is because it cannot contact the DBus inter-process communication user session server in order to communicate with KLauncher, which is required for KIO to work.

Thanks, that works indeed (except that it prints a collection of funny debug messages).
