Sounds like you are missing the RSS data engine, you can check with 'plasmaenginexplorer' as noted previously.
Did you install from source or from distribution packages? If packages, which distribution, version and 4.2 repository are you using?

Well yeah i didn't write required crucial info.
To be honest i didn't install rss. I mean i got standard sources.list coming with Kubuntu 8.10 amd64 (my distro), so when i got available updates to kde 4.2 i decided to give it a shot. After update i got package with new plasmoids from which some are not working. Since KDE 4.2 comes with its own libraries i hoped that all should have worked well if it were implemented in upgrade.

The RSS dataengine is a runtime dependency of the RSSNOW plasmoid. It is currently part of kdebase/workspace/plasma/dataengines, so you should have the dataengine installed.
Can you check using 'plasmaengineexplorer' to see if you have the RSS data engine?

Well the problem is that it is installed. It is and it should be coz it is all coming with new kde 4.2 and it was brand new install. Vanilla, no adds from me to 4.1 KDE that could cause any problems after migration.
I used plasmaeng.... and i got it run so from this point it is OK. Oh and a propos' that plasmaengineexplorer. I browsed a bit and haven't seen anything connected to rss. There sth for weather, twitter system monitor etc. To be honest not only rss is not working some of new kde 4.2 plasmoids are not working as well. Maybe it is just problem of beta 2?

Same problem on Kubuntu 8.10 with 4.2 beta2 packages from the experimental PPA.

plasmoidviewer(2644) KServiceFactory::findServiceByDesktopPath: "findServiceByDesktopPath: not found"
plasmoidviewer(2644) News::connectToEngine: Connect to source: "http://www.kde.org/dotkdeorg.rdf" plasmoidviewer(2644) News::constraintsEvent: constrainsUpdated : 127 @neversfelde: so we got same system and same KDE version. Is this problem with migrating from KDE 4.1 libraries to 4.2?? If it is default pack of plasmoids they could work

You are both missing the RSS data engine, it is probably a seperate package ( assuming the packages are seperated ) or the packages are missing it for some reason ( it is part of kdebase/workspace )
Try checking to see if these two files exist, they are the RSS dataengine: /usr/lib/kde4/plasma_engine_rss.so /usr/share/kde4/services/plasma-dataengine-rss.desktop

These files is missing from binary kdebase-workspace in Kubuntu. I don't have it either. And, neither does my RSSNOW work.

Assuming LinuxIsInnovation is using the experimental 4.2 packages, you will need to inform the packager(s) of kdebase-workspace at the Kubuntu KDE 4.2 repository.

I think it's apachelogger and JontheEchidna (did I miss out someone?). I'll ask them about this.

Doing some investigation it seems that kdepimlibs is required for the rss dataengine to be built. Usually cmake complains when an optional dependency is missing, but in this case it didn't so we didn't know the dataengine wasn't building. (KDE4 cmake implementation bug I guess)
In short, yes it's a problem with our packages; but it's not entirely our fault. :P We'll get this resolved with the KDE 4.1.96 packages.

And how is it build? I updated to 4.2 RC1 but it is still broken. What should I install or reinstall? |

Hmm, it didn't get fixed. I, personally didn't work on the kdebase-workspace packaging so I guess they forgot. I'll work on the fix. Sorry for the inconvenience.
