Hi all,
Is there any [frustrated expletive] way to have KWallet remember my credential when logging into an smb:// share with either Konqueror or Dolphin? Failing that, is there another way to hardcode it somewhere else so it won't ask every time? Failing that, what's a good, colorful yet non-offensive frustrated expletive to use in such a case? (Bonus points if it begins with K!) Thanks. |

Do you need to log in to several different systems with different passwords? If not, then have you entered your credentials in System Settings? There is a setting available in there ( can't remember the modules name currently ) which allows you to set the default username and password to use when connecting.

This has bugged me too! It seems to work that if you enter smb://user:password@host/share that works well enough to save the credentials in your Places.

Hoo boy! Only NOW did I receive the notification that someone replied -- sorry about the long silence! And I'm afraid there are indeed several systems with different passwords involved, so your solution is probably not good for me. It's good to know that the module is there, though (apparently the one you mean is under Advanced > System > Samba), but the real long-term solution would probably be for KWallet to work for SMB passwords as well. Here's to hope! Thank you for your reply. |

If you tick the "remember password" box, then it will likely use KWallet. I haven't tried however.
