[Kopete] Bonjour

Wed Jun 24, 2009 7:47 pm
Can someone tell me how to use Bonjour with Kopete? I have two computers running kopete with a bonjour account each, but they don't see each other...

First thoughts:

Are the necessary ports on the firewall blocked?

Does running avahi-discover from krunner provide you with any details about your local mDNS network?

Bonjour works for me at work, where all other computers are Macs. So perhaps it had to do with the settings of my router, that btw. I no longer have.

Which ports should I open?
In opensuse, which packet provides my with "avahi-discover"?

thanks!

Port 5353 should be opened for the multicast address 224.0.0.251. I'm not sure how YaST lets you configure that.

You want to install avahi-utils.
