Hi all,
is there any way to avoid that Kopete adds scroll arrows to the tab bar if too many tabs are opened. There is a certain threshold when Kopete stops writing abbreviations on the tabs (with ...) and adds these scroll arrows. Maybe there is a way to reduce this threshold? Best regards Daniel |

we just use the standard tab bar stuff, if i remember correctly. i would imagine that there's probably a way to adjust the threshold but it wouldn't be anything we expose as an option. Some additional feedback on what exactly you're looking for would be helpful. (i.e. how small should each tab get, etc.)

Hi,
sorry for the long delay of my reply. What's wrong about an option? There is also an option for the size of the contact name in the chat window (btw: This option also affects the size of the tabs, but I don't like shortened names in the chat window). KDE is all about options, isn't it? Best regards! |

well, really, it's about choosing a sensible default, and if that works in nearly all of the cases, then you wouldn't need an option. I can't remember off hand exactly how big we make each tab, which is why I asked for feedback about how small you think tabs should get before we scroll, etc.

Hi!
Thanks again for your reply. I'm using Kopete 0.70.90 and with a usual message window size it starts scrolling with about 4 open contacts and it doesn't shorten the names in the tabs at all. In my opinion a good value for starting scrolling would be when only about 5 characters of a name is visible after shortening. I think this would still be enough to distinguish between the contacts. Is it possible to let the user choose this value via a config file if an option is not welcome in the gui? Best regards Daniel |
