What I can't understand is that Kopete can use my camera...yet I cannot make video calls.
I'm linked into two networks, MSN and Google Talk.

It's because we haven't finished (re)implementing that functionality yet. In order to support the newer version of the various protocols, we've sadly had to remove some features. I can't promise that this will be fixed in newer versions of Kopete but it's something that's (slowly) being worked on.

I'm just happy it's at least being looked at, thanks

In order to use GOOGLE TALK video and audio calls, you can use EMPATHY (http://live.gnome.org/Empathy).
Works fine for me. I'm using ubuntu 9.10. I installed it directly from Ubuntu repositories. Good luck. |

Empathy cannot make video calls in MSN due to part of the Telepathy framework being removed from Ubuntu.
I'd rather wait for Kopete, but thanks all the same

Hey, I used to have Kopete but when I updated my computer it changed over to pidgin and I used that, but that doesn't support Video on MSN protocol so I went to kopete again and it doesn't seem to have a video button any more in the tool bar yet in the configuration it has found my webcam and is working is there something I need to setup or is it just not supported in this version of it?
