kde-4.1.2 - does krfb only listen on localhost-clients?

Hi kde-users,

is it possible to enable the krfb-server for other clients, than clients from the same where the krfb-server is installed?

I tried to start krfb. If I made a client-connection from the same machine (where krfb is installed) - it works.
If I tried to connect from an other PC in the same network - the client could not connect to the server.

When I tried to open a telnet-connection to the krfb-server - telnet could not open a connection.

My router does explicitly allow a connection on the defined port.

So my question is:
How can I get krfb to listen to clients which are not installed on the same pc?
Did I made a misstake?

Sorry, my english is not very good. So if you could not understand this thread and want me to explain it once again. I will give my best :-)

(AMD64, Gentoo, KDE-4.1.2)

Thx.

Have you checked the firewall on the Gentoo box? unless you are accessing the krfb server remotely ( ie. over the internet ) you shouldn't need a port forward.

I do not explicitly have installed a firewall.

I will try to build a nonsense-server in java to check if any firewall-like thing is blocking ports.

I'd try to connect via internet and lan. both did not work.

Thanks a lot for your tip.

The problem was, that I had to fix the IP-tables.
If anyone else should have the same problem - you can fix it like that:

iptables -I INPUT 1 -p tcp --dport 5900 -j ACCEPT
