Since upgrading my workstation to KDE 4.3, my contacts list for Kopete has doubled in size and fills about a third of the screen. It used to be quite compact.
It seems that the problem is the status icon, which has gotten bigger. Even if I tell it not to display the icon, it still uses the same space as if it were there. I scoured the configuration dialogues but couldn't find where to adjust this. EDIT: I should add that adjusting the font size doesn't help either. Is this controlled by the theme in some way? Or is there some add-on I can use to get a smaller contacts list?

There's a configuration option for how many lines of space each item in the contact list should take. I don't use 4.3 yet so I'm not sure where it is, but look in Settings -> Configure... -> Contact List.

Thanks; I messed with the layout some and it has improved. Maybe I'm remembering incorrectly whether I had all the same info on there or not; either way, I think I'm good for now.
I think what was confusing me is that neither "status message" or "status title" showed any text, so it looked like there was a big arbitrary space there doing nothing. I took those out and now it looks good and compact again.
