Hi. I got a wifi network configured to use wep (because a relative uses a Nintendo DS and it can't do wpa) but I'm having a hard time getting the KDE4 network manager plasmoid to allow me to use the wifi (ATM I use the gnome networkmanager systray icon for that). I would like to know. Does the KDE4 network manager support wep using ascii keys? How do I configure it for that?

The KDE 4 Network Manager is currently in extreme early alpha I believe. While I believe the user interface is present for WEP networks, I do not know to what degree the underlying system does.

You may wish to contact wstephenson in #solid on Freenode, since this is likely an "invalid connection issue" which is related to NM errors.

If you are using openSUSE, you should find a systray icon for any network. Right click on this, select New connection>wlan0 and wait for it to discover the network. This may take some time. When it has discovered it, select it and move to the next screen to enter the WEP key and you should soon find the connection has been made.
