Hello !
I've been having this problem for a while with Kopete. The shortcut that sends messages (enter) only works when Numlock is off. I can't figure out why... I tried to reassign it while Numlock was on but then it doesn't work at all... Is it a problem with my keyboard configuration or with Kopete? Thanks for your help! I'm running Kubuntu 9.10 beta on a Packard Bell laptop with french keyboard. |

This is likely an issue with your keyboard layout, or system keyboard. On some systems ( including my own ) when Numlock is enabled then some keys convert into a numerical number pad.

So I should try and change my keyboard layout? Because I tried it and I never found a layout that seemed to do the trick...
What really bothers me is that it doesn't seem to affect other softwares. For the time being I'm using emesene as a substitute for Kopete and there's no such problem. |

I do not know why this only affects Kopete, but in that case it rules out Keyboard Layout / Hardware related issues. It is possible that the enter key will only "function" when certain conditions have been met and the num lock key somehow interferes in this.
