How secure is a running KWallet?

Mon Oct 19, 2009 10:00 am
Is my opinion, off course, but I think that KWallet must be used only to store only important data and, for the rest, old plain text files must be fine.

My point is, if you buy a strongbox to store your clothes and your money finally, for your comfort, the door was always unlocked so, the strongbox, would be useless.

In my case my LastFM, and many other sites, data is not relevant and I dislike it was in the same place where I store important data.

The problem is that you can't force and application to use one specific wallet, there is only two "default" and "local" so you must delete password for both. One solution would be add an unprotected wallet and a method to force applications to use it.

Finally a question, anybody knows how secure is a running KWallet? Data was encrypted or unencrypted in system memory?

I split this post out of this topic because I thought that this doesn't belong there.
