Sorry if this is a sore subject. I was under the impression that by the time the full version of Kubuntu 9.10 came out this would be fixed? I tried all the workarounds, WICD does not work for me, NM-applet says there is something already using that information??? I read somewhere I should remove knetworkmanager to get it to work but synaptic does not even have that in their directory to remove it. I've yet to see an understandable way to set up a wireless network in Terminal, so I have a hardwire line to my router from a laptop. KDE 4.3.2 is great, BUT!

One of the main reasons I stopped using Kubuntu. IMO network manager is awful. There is no reliable and straight forward way to connect from the command line. That makes it useless when you have system issues that need some updates/installs.

Hi.
I have the same bad experience with Kubuntu 9.10. It is not up to the mark and does not fulfill my thirst. Sorry to it. Hope for modifications or new version. |

First connection to WEP encrypted network was pretty annoying (there are not clearly available error messages), but after a few tries I managed to connect and now everything works fine.
What kind of network you are trying connect to? |

Well, I solved my problem in a round about way and have not had time to add "Solved" To this message, so here it is. I went through Dell, downloaded their Ubuntu 9.10, added Kubuntu Desktop and since their version works with my hardware and drivers, I'm okay. I also upgraded my KDE to 4.3.3. My network is a Cisco Linksys (G) Router hooked into an ATT DSL Modem. My Printer is also working with my LAN.
