Hi!
Every time i get a link via kopete (or i open a youtube-video from amarok) the links are changed. That'd look like that:
file:///var/tmp/kdecache-hauke/krun/12864.0.watch
In Firefox' adressbar.

How can i make KDE-Programs open the real links and not somewhat save them locally or whatever happens to them?
I am using KDE 4.3.3 on Arch Linux (KDEMod)

Thanks in advance!

What you see here is the result of a fallback.

Basically KDE looks at the command associated with a given URL or file type and checks if it might be able to handle URLs or just local files.
If it does not explicitly specify capability for URLs, KDE downloads the remote document to a temporary file and passes that to the application.

This "specifying URL capability" is done by having %u or %U (for capability of working with a list of URLs) in the command.

Usually the best way to get this right is to base an external browser setting or file type association on an entry of the application menu (K-Button menu).

Manually entered commands can be fixed by putting %u or %U at the appropriate place, in case of firefox probably

firefox %u

Cheers,
