laptop @work&home

Mon Nov 16, 2009 8:56 am
I'm completely new to kde so probably my question is quite stupid...

I use my laptop at home (direct internet connection) and at work (I have to set a proxy).

Under gnome the default proxy manager allows to define multiple profiles and to easily switch. So each morning I arrive at work, I open the manager and I change the profile....firefox and thunderbird use the system proxy so everything is ok

This morning, for the first time I booted in kde at work...how should I behave? Can I set a shortcut or a profile switcher in the taskbar? can I avoid restarting x?

thanks!

Unfortunately no proxy manager for KDE is available at this time, you will need to make the change each time through System Settings > Network Settings > Proxy. It will however not require an X restart, and will be honoured by KDE applications immediately.
